The Story of Jade
Hi, I’m Jade Smoot, a visual designer driven by the idea that creativity shouldn’t be confined. Originally from Boston and now based in Tallahassee, I’m a graduate of Florida A&M University with a background in graphic design and a passion for bold, conceptual work. My perspective is shaped by both urban life and the calm, organic influence of nature, which informs the way I approach design with curiosity and intention.
I create across multiple mediums, including brand identities, typography, illustration, posters, and motion graphics. My work leans into expressive and alternative visuals that challenge traditional design norms. I focus on creating pieces that feel authentic, thought-provoking, and reflective of diverse experiences rather than simply following trends or formulas.
As a Black, neurodivergent designer with ADHD and partial hearing, I view my perspective as a strength. It encourages me to think differently, notice details others might overlook, and create work that carries meaning and emotion. Outside of design, I find inspiration in everyday moments, whether that is playing video games, watching animation, or spending time in nature. These experiences continue to shape my creative voice and remind me that design is ultimately about connection, expression, and seeing the world from new perspectives.

My ADHD and partial hearing are not obstacles; they are the strengths that fuel my creative fuel. They allow me to approach complex problems with non-linear thinking and a unique sensory perspective.
